The Pear Tree, which opened its doors in February 2007, was established to fill two separate needs.  First was personal: to satisfy a creative outlet for an empty nester who had her share of volunteering.  Second: to fill a niche for a small, customer oriented gift shop, where finding the perfect gift was a collaborative effort between shop and customer. The way it used to be in the past.

After my youngest child went off to college, I found an opportunity that satisfied both needs. While most of my retail experience was limited to my college days, a creative burst of energy came while working part-time in a shop in Stone Harbor, New Jersey.  It was then that I experienced the joy of helping customers find the perfect gift that expressed love, gratitude, and/or celebration.

I have found my passion and it continues to grow!  I have expanded my offerings over the first two years to include: home to garden; baby to bath; tabletop to jewelry; music to paper products. You name it!  The Pear Tree probably has it!  Come see why we are the recipients of many awards including the coveted "Best of Philly 2008 - Hostess Gifts".

In this fast-paced world filled with appointments and schedules, there seems hardly enough hours in a day!
